27 Weeks: Update, Thank You & Photos (last week)

DSC_0174 copyCHOC1PP

Well, I was messing around & took these photos last week (at 26 weeks exactly- before the preterm labor). I wasn't going to post them, but since it looks like I'm not going to be up taking photos again any time soon, I figured what the heck (plus my mom wouldn't stop bugging me about it). :)

DSC_0156 copyCHOC2p

I saw my perinatologist who made me feel so much better. He said the kitten looks great! He says she is measuring about 2.12 pounds which is 12 days larger than expected for my due date. He said the uterus, placenta, cervix, and amniotic fluid all look good. I got to see all 4 chambers of the kitten's heart, and the doctor said, "What a beautiful heart!" I loved hearing that! Also, I did pass the FFN test, which means there is only about 1.4% chance I'll deliver in the next two weeks. But both my OB and my perinatologist do want me to remain on bedrest for now, especially since I've been experiencing contractions almost daily since the first episode.

I want to thank everyone for the tips and suggestions for coping with bedrest. I'm also glad so many shared their personal stories- they made me feel not so alone in this! At my next appointment in two weeks, I'll find out just how long I'll have to stay on bedrest- and if it ends up being a while, I am going to look into hiring a physical therapist. Thanks to my mom, I have lots of great pregnancy books including Excerises for the Childbearing Year (as suggested twice), so I will be catching up on some overdue reading! I'm also getting some online shopping done (was there any doubt?), but I will probably need to get one of those bedside hospital-like tables since using a laptop when you don't really have a lap anymore is challenging! Fortunately, Sophie Lu likes to snuggle up with me as much as she can, so I am in great company! Also, I do relocate to the sofa downstairs for a good part of the day so I can spend time with Sophie & Ollie while they play, etc.

So 27 weeks... next week, I'll be in my third trimester! I really can't believe it! Only 88 more days to go!

Shana, we were so thrilled to see and here that everything is going well...Mary Grace, my precious darling from China and I have been concerned. Our prayers are with you and your family. We love the names that y'all are contemplating...some were even on my list...as a teacher I have always asked the parents what they would like for me to call their children...Mary Grace has not had any problems with her name...To make sure the Mary Grace was not changed we added another family name as a middle name Anabella...so her true first name is Mary Grace...and she loves all her beautiful names. We loved the Photo's...you will treasure them always. If you haven't already make sure you take some with the children and your husband putting their hands on your tummy...also with the children resting their little sweet heads on you tummy too. It is a precious picture. I can try and scan you one of mine...I am still a film and darkroom girl...but I could try. My email is beck16@cox.net. We are praying for y'all. God bless. Kim

Gorgeous shots! I've been a lurker here for a while but I had to comment to say that I am relieved everything is great with the kitten. I was pregnant last year with a due date of 9/20- I had my daughter on 9/15- so it's fun to follow along with your pregnancy and remember how i felt last year at this time. I had a lot of contractions around this same time as well- but they totally went away by week 32 or so. I also had those terrible headaches along with weird facial pain- so I have total emphathy for you. But all was well come the big day- I had a beautiful natural birth and felt back to normal quickly! So hopefully you will too.
Have you thought about using cloth diapers?- they are so much fun and a very addictive and excellent way to pass the time while on bedrest is to shop for some newborn "fluff"- beautiful organic diapers, little wool covers, etc. Just a suggestion- we love our cute cloth bottomed girl here and it's (too) fun to shop for them!

Very Nice Pictures!

Shana, you are very lucky that your husband has enoguh money for you to hire people, get the help of a housekeeper, and buy all the things you want. Many of us cannot even afford to buy a house.

:)

Take care, and may God bless you!

Shana said...

Dear Anonymous,

Yes, it's true- I am very blessed. I grew up poor, so believe me when I say I do know how lucky I am to have a house, a housekeeper, and especially the luxury of being able to stay at home with my kids. I appreciate everything I have, and I know that happiness does not come from material things. And like everyone else, I do have problems and worries; and my life is not perfect. Though you don't have a house right now, I'm sure that there is much about your life that I could say, "How lucky" about too. :) We all have our blessings and our challenges...

God bless you as well,
Shana

p.s. My husband doesn't buy me everything I want (as you suggested), but I am SO lucky because all I ever really wanted was a family of my own; and my husband has made that a reality for me. I am blessed with two beautiful children and a baby on the way- yes, I am indeed very lucky. :)

Shana,

Gorgeous pictures of you. I agree that a pic with Sophie Lu and Ollie's hands on your baby bump would be so prescious. I can hardly wait to see more Annalisa sonogram pics too.

The person that commented about the house, wow, I feel that to sometimes from others. I have a home (with a mortgage of course), that I purchased in 1994. Way before the market went crazy.

A family member, at the time chose not to buy a house, it was too much responsibility. They wanted to put $ into husband's business. Well, we all know, the market has changed, and now there is no way they can buy a home. They resent me to no end cause I have a home and they are renters.

It's all in God's hands, it's "God's will be done". You are brining up children in God's love, and Praise the Lord (PTL) for that. The world needs more family oriented people !!

As a blog follower, we need a weekly update, pics, garden growing, Ollie turinng into a little man, Sophie a little lady, and Annalisa of course.

((((hugs))) to you and happy baby bump.

I am so relieved to hear that everything is O.K. For some reason, I have a strong feeling that everything is going to turn out just as it should and your baby will be born healthy and strong. Even though we don't know each other, I know you have a strong faith so I wanted to tell you that.

Everyone has already said it, but I have to chime in...the pictures are stunning, I can't believe they're not professional. Although, with the the number of pics of Sophie and Ollie you've taken, you are certainly semi-pro!

Rest and keep us posted when you can.

HELP !!!! What camera would yourecommend for a beginner? I currently use a digital pentax, simple, simple, simple camera. What would you recommend for an upgrade for a beginner?

Thanks, Gail

Shana said...

Miette,

((Hugs))

I've felt that same way, so I totally understand- and my heart goes out to you. After three miscarriages, I never thought I'd be able to carry a baby to term either- but after seeing a wonderful accupuncturist helped me (not sure if that would work for you or not).

But either way, you ARE going to be a Mommy. You are so lucky to be adopting from China, and I pray that things speed up. Being pregnant is a very special experience, but still, NOTHING compares with my experience of adopting Sophie from China. I wouldn't trade that for anything- it was so magical and amazing in every way. Most women can get have biological babies, but a very very special few of us get to experience the miracle of adoption...

I hope none of that came out wrong. Just know I am sending my love.
